The Ketchikan Shipyard utilizes a broad palette of Steelscape solid colors—Blue, White Gray, Taupe, Bright Silver, Imperial White, and Driftwood White—to create a functional yet visually cohesive industrial complex. AECOM and Coffman Engineers designed the facility to withstand Alaska’s harsh coastal environment, where salt exposure, moisture, and extreme weather demand durable building materials. The variety of metal tones helps break up the large building massing and enhances visibility and organization across the work yards. The finishes maintain their integrity despite challenging marine conditions, supporting long-term operational reliability.
